What’s a Song That Always Puts Me in a Good Mood?

Daily writing prompt
What’s a song that always puts you in a good mood?

One song that always does it for me is “Good Together” by Lake Street Dive.

Some songs lift your mood because they are loud or flashy or impossible not to dance to. This one works on me a little differently. It feels easy. Warm. Confident without trying too hard. It has that rare quality some songs have where the second it starts, the day feels a little less heavy.

I think part of it is the groove. There’s something relaxed and human about it, like the song is not pushing for a reaction. It just shows up in a good mood and trusts that you’ll meet it there. And usually, I do. Even if the day has been strange or tiring or off in some hard-to-name way, that song has a way of resetting the atmosphere.

But I also think the title itself carries something simple and true. Good together. There’s a kind of comfort in that idea. In a world that can feel fractured, noisy, and overly complicated, a song built around connection lands differently. It reminds you that not everything meaningful has to be dramatic. Sometimes the best feeling in the world is just ease. Harmony. The sense that something fits.

That’s what the song gives me.

It makes me think of driving with the windows down, of a kitchen with music playing in the background, of a late afternoon when nobody is rushing and everything feels briefly, surprisingly okay. It feels like the musical version of catching your breath.

So yes, if I had to pick a song that always puts me in a good mood, it would be “Good Together” by Lake Street Dive.

Because some songs do not just sound good.

They make life feel a little more possible.
