What’s One Thing That Would Instantly Improve My City?

One thing that would instantly improve my city is dedicated bike lanes.

Not just a painted line on the side of a busy road that disappears whenever traffic gets complicated. I mean real, protected, connected bike lanes that make people feel safe enough to actually use them.

A city changes when people have more than one good way to get around. Driving will always matter, especially in places where everything is spread out, but not every short trip should require getting in a car. Sometimes you just want to ride to a coffee shop, a park, a grocery store, or a friend’s house without feeling like you are gambling with your life.

Dedicated bike lanes would make the city healthier, safer, and more enjoyable. They would encourage people to be outside more. They would reduce some traffic. They would make neighborhoods feel more connected. They would also give kids, commuters, and casual riders a way to move through the city without needing everything to revolve around parking lots and car lanes.

And honestly, bike lanes make a city feel more alive.

You notice more when you are not sealed inside a car. You see the streets differently. You stop more easily. You support local places more naturally. You feel connected to the place instead of just passing through it.

So yes, if I could instantly improve my city, I would add dedicated bike lanes.

Make them safe. Make them useful. Make them connected.

Then watch how quickly the city starts to feel more human.
