The weirdest coincidence I’ve ever experienced was thinking about someone I had not talked to in years, and then hearing from them almost immediately.
Not the next week. Not even the next day. Within minutes.
It was one of those people who had drifted out of my life so quietly that I did not even realize how long it had been. No falling out. No big dramatic ending. Just time, distance, different routines, and the strange way life moves people into separate rooms. Then, for no obvious reason, they popped into my head.
I remember wondering how they were doing.
Then my phone lit up.
Their name was right there.
That kind of thing makes you stop for a second. The rational part of your brain immediately starts explaining it away, because coincidence is real and memory is selective and strange things happen all the time. But another part of you, the quieter part, wonders if life has more little threads running through it than we can see.
I do not know if it meant anything. Maybe it didn’t.
But it felt meaningful.
And sometimes that is enough. Not every coincidence has to become a sign. Some moments are just odd enough to make the world feel a little less random for a minute. Like there is some hidden rhythm underneath the noise, and every once in a while, you accidentally hear a few notes of it.
That was the weirdest part.
Not that they texted.
That I had already been thinking of them when they did.
