Honestly, my 7-year-old Labrador and my 6-year-old Australian Shepherd.
That may sound funny to some people, but I mean it. Dogs have a way of living that feels wiser than a lot of human advice. They are present. They do not overcomplicate love. They do not pretend to be anything other than what they are. They wake up ready to meet the day with full sincerity, whether the plan is something big or just a walk, a yard, a couch, and the people they love.
That inspires me.
A Labrador brings that steady, open-hearted loyalty. There is something moving about a creature that can be so happy just because you came back into the room. No grudge, no performance, no complicated emotional bookkeeping. Just joy, trust, and devotion. That kind of consistency is hard not to admire.
And an Australian Shepherd has a different kind of energy that is inspiring too. Sharp, alert, engaged, always tuned in. There is intelligence there, but also purpose. Aussies do not really half-do life. They are in it. Watching, moving, learning, ready. There is something about that combination of intensity and love that feels deeply alive.
Together, they probably represent two things I think matter a lot: loyalty and presence.
They remind me that a good life is not always about achievement or image or having everything figured out. Sometimes it is about showing up with enthusiasm. Staying close to the people you love. Finding joy in ordinary routines. Being fully yourself without apology. Meeting each day as if it still has something good in it.
So yes, the ones I’m most inspired by are my dogs.
Because some of the best examples of how to live do not speak at all.
